Day 1 

 

At the airport you will be greeted by your chauffeur guide who will take you into the fishing village of Kalpitiya. Dolphins, whales and kite surfing are what brings people to the relatively undeveloped Kalpitiya peninsula. Hundreds of dolphins can often be seen playing in the offshore waters.  Boat safaris offer close-up views of these aquatic mammals. The Kalpitiya Beach at the northern end of the peninsula consists of a long spit of sand most easily reached by a boat across the Kalpitiya lagoon.

Day 2

Route : Kalpitiya

Snorkel or dive in the Bar Reef today. Despite its natural beauty, the western peninsular area of Kalpitiya is remarkably untouched by tourism. For keen scuba divers and snorkelers, the largest coral reef in Sri Lanka is only an hour’s boat trip from Kalpitiya. This beautiful reef is home to an incredible variety of tropical fish as well as frequent sightings of manta rays, reef sharks and the occasional turtle. 

Day 3

Route :  Kalpitiya > Galle

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Galle Fort, is a delight to explore on foot, an endlessly exotic old trading port blessed with imposing Dutch-colonial buildings, ancient mosques and churches, grand mansions and museums. Wandering its rambling lanes you’ll pass stylish cafes, quirky boutiques and impeccably restored hotels owned by local and foreign artists, writers, photographers and designers. Rest of the day at leisure by the ocean in Galle.

Day 4

With its impressive coral reefs and abundance of tropical fish, Hikkaduwa is recognized as one of the best places for Snorkeling and diving on the Southwest coast. With a reputed and long-running diving school located in the town itself, PADI diving instructors are available throughout the season for training and certification as well as leading more experienced divers in some of the country’s best shipwreck and reef dives.

Snorkel or dive in the Conch Reef: 20 meters: Historically significant as one of the first oil tankers of the Shell Company which sank in 1903 as she struck the Akarta rock. It is probably one of the best and easily accessible wreck dives in Sri Lanka. The Conch is also quite a fun dive with many nooks and crannies within the wreck filled with marine life.

Day 5

Snorkel or dive in Unawatuna: With palm-lined beaches, turquoise waters and a good selection of guesthouses and restaurants, Unawatuna is very popular with travelers. The resort’s location is superb, with the historic city of Galle just 6km away and a wooded headland to the west dotted with tiny coves. This 3-hour scuba diving session gives you an opportunity to get a clear view of Sri Lanka colorful corals, mystery wrecks and over 170 species of reef fish, turtles, octopuses, and shellfishes. If you are lucky you can even meet Sri Lanka’s giant, the whale shark.

Snorkel or dive in Weligama: Weligama (meaning Sandy Village) is an interesting blend of a lively fishing town and beach resort. The sprawling main settlement and coastal road is somewhat scruffy and not that easy on the eye, but you’ll find the sandy beach is attractive once you’re away from the main section. there’s a couple of cove beaches west of the center.  Snorkeling and diving around is quite good.
